A Cake to Celebrate

There are many ways to put together a little party. But in my book, if you add a homemade cake, the occasion is always a party!

Devils Food with Coconut Buttercream

So in honor of the re-launch of our blog, I thought we’d slice a few cakes…and the celebratory party would subsequently follow!
Here are a few of the cakes I’ve made recently and haven’t had a chance to share.

Strawberry shortcake for my baby's 1st birthday

Classic yellow cake recipe became a fish...

...and was fun for my 3 yr old to help decorate!

Fish cupcakes for school

Frosting cupcakes

Under the Sea: Tootsie Roll starfish & coral, graham cracker crumb sand, Swedish fish

And, since we have lots of cake, why not a little ice cream – or gelato?  I attended the National Restaurant Show over the weekend and observed this beautiful display of gelato….

Watermelon, coconut, canteloupe, chocolate gelato!

Now THIS is what I’m talking about! Something to put in the “cake stand.” Dietitians eat dessert, too.

(maybe it should be a badge or hashtag? ;-)

I’m working on a recipe this weekend to put on the cake stand…although, I guess I did put one batch of fishy cupcakes on the cake stand!
