Ahh, the unofficial start to summer here in the states: Memorial Day weekend! As I’ve professed many times, I am a summer girl so I get a little bit giddy this time of year, not just for the weather but for the abundance of seasonal items I now can get from farmers markets, my CSA share or generous neighbors’ gardens who share the wealth with this black thumb.

So, as we get into prime time grilling season, I’m excited about our next cookbook giveaway – the Cooking Light Way To Grilling Cookbook: The Complete Visual Guide to Healthy Grilling. From meat and seafood to vegetables and fruit, it’s all covered here with beautiful, how-to photos and the delicious, healthy recipes that Cooking Light is famous for.

Now, these aren’t meant to taste like a burger but they have the burger look and heartiness to them. The flavors of cumin, jalapeno and oregano in the bean burger are the perfect match to the sweet and tangy mango salsa. Let’s just say these will be staying on my grilling rotation through the summer! Click here for the recipe.

  2. Deanna: This is my kind of burger!!! I grew up eating several types of beans and really enjoy them. I think the fresh salsa on top is a real plus that brings freshness and balance of flavors to this burger. I just wish my hand could reach it… :) Have a great Memorial Day weekend!!!

  15. What I love most about grilling season, is that Mr. Spicy cooks more, since he fancies himself the master of the grill :-) I’ve got a grilled peach and squash salad with manchego cheese recipe (pinned from Roost) on my menu for this weekend. These burgers sound delicious! Happy grilling :-)
